With the industry’s focus currently on retrofitting our homes to reduce heat loss in winter, are we increasing the risk of summertime overheating? If our summer temperatures continue to rise as our climate changes then our building stock will need to remain comfortable in warmer summers. Will your homes remain comfortable for your tenants or are you already experiencing complaints from tenants in summer months? Are the buildings you design future proofed?
Whether you’re a designer, developer, housing manager or social and health care professional, this breakfast seminar will provide you with an opportunity to hear how summertime overheating needs to be tackled in homes. We’re delighted to be welcoming speakers from:
ARUP – Providing an introduction to urban heat risk and overheating in buildings. Arup’s recent research has identified the triple risk index where physical factors coincide with the building forms conducive to heat risk and vulnerable people.
Zero Carbon Hub – Hear more on the hub’s current overheating research project which has sought views from the industry on how overheating in buildings is currently determined, the causes and risks of overheating and how we can better manage the risk. The project is working with the Welsh and UK governments, industry and academic experts to provide evidence on why overheating needs to be tackled in both existing and new build homes.
Welsh Government – Presenting a research case study from a housing association in South Wales.
For those who are involved in delivering new homes or retrofitting properties in Wales this is a “must attend” event providing an opportunity to discuss the topic with a broad range of professions.

Grŵp Digarbon – Cewch glywed am brosiect ymchwil gorboethi Y Grŵp Di-Garbon a fu’n holi barn y diwydiant ynghylch y ffordd y mae gorboethi mewn adeiladau’n cael ei fesur ar hyn o bryd, achosion a risgiau gorboethi a sut y gallwn reoli’r risgiau hynny’n well. Mae’r prosiect yn gweithio gyda Llywodraeth Cymru, Llywodraeth y Deyrnas Unedig, y diwydiant ac arbenigwyr academaidd i ddarparu tystiolaeth ynghylch yr angen i ddelio â gorboethi mewn adeiladau presennol ac adeiladau newydd.
Llywodraeth Cymru – a fydd yn cyflwyno astudiaeth achos ymchwil a wnaed gyda chymdeithas dai yn Ne Cymru.
