This is your opportunity to respond to Welsh Government's consultation on the seperate collection of paper, metal, plastic and glass. How will the seperate collection of these materials impact on the way in which you handle waste on site.

Timing is vital in all sorts of areas of our life – comedy, sport and industry too. So it was great that one of our CEW events examined the best way to approach transport improvement only days before Transport Minister Edwina Hart confirmed that roads, public transport, walking and cycling routes in Wales are to have £15.4m worth of improvements.

Consultation on Draft Statutory Guidance on Separate Collection of Waste Paper, Metal, Plastic and Glass
 


The Welsh Government is consulting on statutory guidance on the separate collection of waste paper, plastic, metal and glass for recycling. This is required by the EU Waste Framework Directive and the 2011 and 2012 Waste (England and Wales) Regulations and supports our overarching waste strategy, ‘Towards Zero Waste’.

What is the best approach to managing the improvement of one of the most dramatic and beautiful roads in Wales when it requires working in what are described as an environmental minefield? To the team behind the works on the A470 Maes yr Helmau to Cross Foxes, Dolgellau the answer was good planning, engagement and communication – backed up by a solid commitment to collaborative behaviours.

That was the message last Thursday morning when the CEW’s north Wales Best Practice Club and the ICE held a best practice event at Gwynedd County Council’s Dolgellau offices with the Welsh Government’s Highways team, Gwynedd Consultancy, Alun Griffiths Contractors, Natural Resources Wales and Snowdonia National Park Authority.
