What makes one construction project stand out from another? Why is one regarded as a landmark scheme as opposed to others? What makes a CEW Award winner? The answer is not straightforward, but when you see a series of award winning projects then the pieces of the jigsaw fall into place.

Because CEW is all about sharing best practice we make every effort to highlight the learning from our CEW Award winners. After all, they are all landmark schemes or driven onwards by dynamic leaders. Over the next few weeks we will feature a summary of three of our award winners to help you determine if you can be a CEW Award winner in 2014.

The signs are good for construction and particularly in housing across Wales. Persimmon Homes Wales recently announced plans to build 450 new homes across Pembrokeshire, which will create affordable homes and houses that can be assisted by the Welsh Government's Help to Buy shared equity loan scheme.

What’s more the number of planning consents UK-wide increased dramatically in the 12 months to October 2013 and Wales shows the greatest increase, up 71% (significantly more than in London and the South East).
