Introduction from Milica Kitson, CEW

Construction transforms the lives of everyone it touches, but so many people in Wales do not wholly understand the impact of our industry. The public and media are rightly quick to criticise planners, designers and builders when projects do not go well but we must work harder to ensure that everyone understands that as we work collaboratively and pursue best practice Welsh construction is delivering long term community benefits as well as reducing the country’s carbon footprint and generating less waste. That’s why events like the Local Authority Building Control awards in April and our own CEW Awards in July are so important to showcase that our industry is truly outstanding and full of potential. This is always something we are aware of at CEW, but with the CEW Major Project Delivery Task Force we have a huge opportunity to demonstrate to Government, local authorities, Welsh business and the public just what our industry can do for Wales. I believe our industry is on the verge of great things – it is going to be a good summer!
