Building Excellence in North Wales
|
Welsh builders, especially SMEs need to work closely with local authorities, something that was being celebrated at the ‘North Wales Building Excellence Awards’ last week. Last Friday’s ‘North Wales Building Excellence Awards’ provided recognition for all people engaged in construction projects that have achieved outstanding quality and building regulation compliance. The scheme highlights the importance of Building Control in achieving high standards of workmanship, safety, welfare and convenience and gives a well-deserved boost to construction professionals active in the North Wales Region. Dave Sharp, Vice Chairman of LABC Wales said, “All too often public focus has been on the problems associated with cowboy builders, with little recognition of quality work. North Wales Building Control Surveyors aim to change this perception by rewarding quality construction work with our ‘North Wales Building Excellence Awards.’ ” The LABC’s event in North Wales had around 300 people to see the twelve awards presented and hear from Carl Sargeant AM, Minister for Natural Resources. The awards represent schemes selected from more than 7,500 inspections by building control teams – so competition is tough. What’s more, that quality celebrated by the LABC only comes about through the supply chain working as a team; collaborating to minimise waste, maximise benefits to local people and focussing on achieving low carbon targets. It takes a holistic approach and one that needs championing every day by CEW stakeholders. Find out more about the winners and learn about LABC by visiting their website.
