Green Compass Website Re-Launch

The Green Compass Scheme was developed by Constructing Excellence in Wales and, in conjunction with the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) the scheme provides independent verification of the performance data reported by waste management organisations against the PAS 402 specification.

The specification was originally published in 2009 and has recently gone through a review process. The new version was released in June 2013.

PAS 402:2013 is a publicly available specification that was collaboratively produced by key stakeholders. The specification has all the functionality of a British Standard for the purposes of creating a system to document business performance. The Green Compass Scheme is the UKAS accredited inspection scheme which provides the mechanism to demonstrate conformance to PAS 402:2013 requirements.

The Green Compass Scheme has 61 registered companies. Of these companies, 38 have been successfully inspected and an additional 23 organisations have applied for membership and are at various stages of the process.

The publication of PAS 402:2013 has coincided with the launch of the new interactive Green Compass website. The website has a new refreshing look and feel that consists of company profiles, an interactive map of scheme members and a downloadable PAS specification that is free to those companies based in Wales.

The website will act as more detailed source of information and monitor company progress on the scheme.
