£10 million Property Development Fund

Paul Jennings, Director of our Waste Programme states:

"At CEW we welcome any initiative by Welsh Government which shows continued commitment to the wellbeing of the construction industry in Wales and last week's announcement by Mrs Hart launching the £10 million Property Development Fund reinforces that commitment. We have just completed judging entries for our Annual Awards, and once again have been overwhelmed by the standard of work that has continued to be delivered by the industry in Wales. The quality of the entries is evidence of the capability of companies who work in the built environment sector in Wales to deliver outstanding work, on time in budget and to the highest standard. Increasingly we are seeing the benefits of projects which have been procured following the principles of collaborative working rather than lowest price tendering. In a harsh economic climate the decision to avoid buying the cheapest option is a brave decision which will have long term whole life benefits. Mrs Hart’s announcement will contribute significantly to easing the financial restrictions which not only stifle the industry but restrict developers’ ability to make that brave decision. The businesses involved in the award entries clearly demonstrate that the will to succeed is surviving – Mrs Hart’s announcement will provide the wherewithal for that will to flourish."
