City Hall Cardiff was packed out with builders, designers, engineers and their clients and suppliers celebrating the very best of the best at the eighth annual CEW Awards last Friday night (4th July 2014).
In what has become one of the biggest events of the Welsh construction industry year, almost 500 people from the Welsh built environment supply chain united in showcasing projects and developments that have taken Wales forward and prove that collaborative working is the best way of meeting Government targets and delivering a first class infrastructure for Wales.
All of the winners demonstrate what can be achieved through collaborative procurement, investing in new systems and technology, innovation in people management and leadership, teamwork and a commitment to sustainability. Throughout the evening there was one ever present constant – a belief in looking ahead and pursuing value.
From the feedback we have received, the night hosted by Mark Durden-Smith, was another triumph – certainly everyone had a great time.
The winners are featured online and in print in a brochure and we hope to promote the event in the Western Mail next week. You can also catch up with news of the winners and track people's comments online via Twitter, email and LinkedIn – all of the news is promoted using the #CEWAwards2014 hash tag; please use it if you post a message and please do share your own images of the night. The nominated charity this year was Wooden Spoon and attendees at the dinner donated over £3000 – thanks to everyone for their generosity.
Our winners will now take part in the Constructing Excellence Awards in London in November – watch out for details via the CEW website and on Twitter @CEWales. Year on year, the Welsh winners have done remarkably well at the UK awards setting a high benchmark for Welsh construction and a consistently high standard to measure up to for the rest of the UK.
