‘Initial Peer Review’ for the Constructing Excellence in Wales Demonstration Programme

There is a growing demand for Welsh medium education in Carmarthenshire as in other parts of Wales. The existing Ffwrnes school, located on an adjacent site, is oversubscribed and is housed in a small Victorian school with the majority of pupils educated in mobile classrooms. The new school will address the current need and predicted future demands. The proposed building has already achieved BREEAM Outstanding certification for its Design Stage and will be the first Primary School in Wales to be built to BREEAM Outstanding standards on completion later this year.

The school, which will provide two-form entry for 420 children, is being built by WRW Construction as part Carmarthenshire County Councils previous capital works framework which focused on procuring award winning projects as art of the Council's Modernising Education Programme. It has been funded by a £10.22 million Welsh Government grant, and £4.38 million from the council's capital programme.

Whilst the project addresses a number of social and economic areas the key demonstration theme is the environmental performance of the building and its contribution to lowering whole life costs. Various measures are included in the design to reduce energy demand, encourage eco-friendly behaviour and responsible use. Rainwater harvesting, external planting areas, renewable energy sources and other features are included.

The project is participating in the Constructing Excellence in Wales Demonstration Programme for Wales which is designed to promote Best Practice and innovation in construction. By attending this event you will learn from the project team of the challenges faced in constructing such a facility.  You will also have opportunities to participate in the discussion and provide your own ‘review’ or assessment of the project via a simple scoring mechanism.  This provides a valuable stage in the process of a project becoming a ‘demonstration’.

How to Book: This event is free of charge but you must register in advance. To reserve your place please email CEWales Events stating your full contact details and the names of all delegates wishing to attend. Substitution of delegates can be made at any time.

To become a Best Practice Club member visit our Club Page for details.

Non-attendance by any registered delegate will be charged £20 unless you have informed us by Monday 3rd March 2014.

In order to reduce wastage at our events CEW operates a policy of only notifying venue details when issuing registration confirmation. This ensures we only cater for delegates who have registered and don’t over order for individuals who may or may not turn up on the day.

Adolygiad Cychwynnol gan Gymheiriaid ar gyfer Rhaglen Arddangos Adeiladu Arbenigrwydd yng Nghymru

Mae galw cynyddol am addysg Gymraeg yn Sir Gâr fel sawl man arall drwy Gymru. Mae ysgol bresennol Ffwrnes, ar leoliad agos, wedi ei ordanysgrifio ac ar safle ysgol fechan Fictorianaidd gyda’r mwyafrif o’r disgyblion yn derbyn eu haddysg mewn dosbarthiadau symudol. Bydd yr ysgol newydd yn diwallu anghenion presennol a’r twf i’r dyfodol. Mae’r adeilad eisioes wedi rhagori gyda thystysgrif BREEAM am y dylunio, ac ar y ffordd i ennill y dystysgrif llawn pan fydd y gwaith drosodd.

Mae’r ysgol, sy’n darparu ar gyfer 420 o blant mewn dwy ffrwd, yn cael ei chodi gan WRW Construction fel rhan o fframwaith cyfalaf flaenorol Cyngor Sir Gâr ar gyfer caffael prosiectau arobryn dan Raglen Moderneiddio Addysg y Cyngor. Darparwyd grant o £10.22 miliwn gan Lywodraeth Cymru a £4.38 M o raglen gyfalaf y Cyngor.

Er yn ateb nifer o ofynion cymdeithasol ac economiadd, perfformiad amgylcheddol yr adeilad yw’r prif thema arddangos, a’r cyfraniad tuag at leihau costau gydol oes. Ceir nifer o fesurau i leihau’r defnydd o ynni ac i symbylu ymddygiad mwy eco-gyfeillgar a defnydd cymhedrol o adnoddau. Mae cyfleusterau defnyddio dŵr glaw, ardaloedd bioamrywiaeth a defnydd o dechnoleg adnewyddadwy yn nodweddiadiol.

Sut i archebu lle:
Mae'r digwyddiad hwn yn rhad ac am ddim, ond rhaid i chi gofrestru o flaen llaw. Gyrrwch ebost at CEWales Digwyddiadau gan nodi eich manylion cyswllt yn llawn ac enwi pawb sy’n dymuno mynychu. Gallwch newid eich cynrychiolydd ar unrhyw adeg.

Bydd diffyg presenoldeb gan unrhyw aelod o'r clwb cofrestredig yn cael ei godi £20 oni bai eich bod wedi dweud wrthym erbyn Dydd Llun 3 o Mawrth 2014.

Er mwyn lleihau gwastraff yn ein digwyddiadau, mae CEW yn gweithredu polisi o gadarnhau manylion y lleoliad ar ôl cofrestru’n unig.
