A new riverside regeneration completed by Bellway Homes is the latest scheme to benefit local communities by donating surplus construction materials to the Recipro Wales project.

Bellway Homes has recently completed the ‘Llais Tawe’ development creating around 110 new dwellings of 2, 3 and 4-bedroom properties including family homes and apartments which are situated close to the city centre. 

Through their donation of flooring, timber, bricks and blocks, Bellway Homes has joined a flourishing movement of considerate constructors who are benefitting from reduced site waste and disposal costs by donating good quality, usable surplus construction materials to the Recipro Wales project which is based at the HQ of Swansea Care and Repair in the Llansamlet area of the city.

A collaborative project between Constructing Excellence in Wales, Swansea Care and Repair and the inventors of Recipro-UK the concept is to divert surplus materials (that may otherwise be disposed of at landfill) to charitable organisations and community projects. 

Community groups, schools, social enterprises and others are able to register to use the service and access donated materials at a heavily discounted cost to complete projects using unwanted but useful materials which would have otherwise been disposed of. 

Bellway Homes Site Manager Mark Gammaidoni is delighted that the company was able to give the small quantity of surplus materials a second chance by donating them to Recipro Wales “we are committed to providing a high quality and sustainable service so it makes sense for us to support local community projects and improve the environment for all, Recipro Wales has made this connection possible”.
