Welcome to our Weekly E-bulletin

It is only a few weeks until this years CEW Awards, taking place at the Celtic Manor, Newport. Once again Wales is leading the headlines in the construction media. Landmark schemes such as the Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon set Wales apart from the rest of the UK and set alongside the pipeline of work such as the SEWSCAP 2 framework, it is clear that our industry is in decent shape.

What’s more, we are building things in the right manner.

Evidence from our award entries capture the commitment to collaborative working and the long term vision needed for our collective industry supply chain to build Wales out of recession. But we still need to strive to do more, to influence Government and educate clients to favour the ideas and innovations our industry can provide. We know because we have seen the proof and we are closer than most to the process and end product that low cost, carbon efficient buildings can be designed and built in Wales. We have seen the evidence in last years’ Sustainability category in the 2014 CEW Awards, Great House Farm, St Fagan’s. So hopefully George Osborne and other decision makers will take heed of the letter in this week’s Daily Telegraph calling on more commitment from Government to a low carbon Britain.
