CEW Awards 2016: Deadline for Entries

Welcome to our Weekly E-Bulletin

This week I make no apology for urging anyone who has not entered our CEW Awards for 2016 to get organised and enter now. The closing date is Monday, 29th February so there is time – just.

But the message about becoming involved is true for everyone and there is no time limit. Whilst we want every one of our industry stakeholders in and around Wales and our CEW community to show off their work and share best practice via the Awards, just by working with us you are helping make a better Welsh built environment.

That is what is great about some of the items in this week’s newsletter. Lovell is working with our Enabling Zero Waste team alongside Seren Group and there are always opportunities for contractors, suppliers, designers and engineers to help us complete research, pilot new ways of working or simply demonstrate excellence. So, you don’t have to enter the CEW Awards – but it does help!

News this week about the Aston Martin factory at St Athan plus the announcement that the former Whiteheads site in Newport is being cleared in preparation for the construction of 500 homes next year in a £75 million development is all a great reminder of the potential for our industry. These two projects alone might generate over 1,000 jobs and boost the local economies. Maybe these projects might feature in our CEW Awards in a few years’ time?
