The best construction projects are those that add something to the community and that enable people of all ages to discover a new pastime and to boost the local economy.

The development of the Welsh National Sailing Academy & Events Centre at Pwllheli over the past few years is just one such example and the CEW North Wales Club is showcasing the story behind the scheme.

Pwllheli has evolved into one of the finest sailing venues in western Britain. Pwllheli, positioned on the south side of the Llyn Peninsula, is one of the best locations for Olympic class dinghy sailing in Britain. Its site provides a gateway to the sailing waters which include Cardigan Bay, Anglesey and the East Irish Coast. It is regarded as being world class and has hosted a significant number of successful national and international sailing competitions, raising the area’s profile as a sporting and tourist destination and providing business and employment opportunities to the area. Hence the decision to develop a Centre of Excellence for sail training, providing state of the art facilities for sailors at all levels as well as creating economic opportunities for the town and surrounding region.

The Welsh National Sailing Academy & Events Centre was funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Welsh European Funding Office (WEFO) with match funding from Welsh Government and Gwynedd Council. Key criteria were that the Academy Building was iconic and achieve the BREEAM Excellent standard: it has achieved all of this and more.

Come to Welsh National Sailing Academy & Events Centre at Pwllheli to learn more about the scheme on the 8 December. To hear from YGC, Wynne Construction, Jones Bros, Gwynedd Council, Plas Heli and Ellis Williams Architects about this successful scheme.

Teitl: Clwb Arfer Gorau Gogledd Cymru yr Academi Hwylio Pwllheli
Dyddiad: Dydd Iau 8 Rhagfyr 2015
Lleoliad:  Pwllheli
Amser: 8.30am – 11am
Cost:  Am ddim i Aelodau Clwb Arfer Gorau, mae £42 i nad ydynt yn aelodau

Y prosiectau adeiladu gorau yw’r rhai sy’n cyfrannu at y gymuned, yn sbarduno pobl o bob oed i ganfod diddordeb newydd ac yn hyrwyddo’r economi leol. Enghraifft ragorol o hyn dros y blynyddoedd diwethaf yw datblygiad Plas Heli – Yr Academi Hwylio Genedlaethol a Chanolfan Ddigwyddiadau ym Mhwllheli. Ar 8 Rhagfyr, bydd Clwb Adeiladu Arbenigrwydd yng Nghymru (CEW) Gogledd Cymru yn cyflwyno holl hanes y cynllun.

Datbygodd Pwllheli i fod yn un o’r mannau hwylio gorau yng ngorllewin Prydain. Oherwydd lleoliad y dref ar ochr ddeheuol penrhyn Llŷn, dyma un o brif ganolfannau hwylio dingis y dosbarth Olympaidd ym Mhrydain. Mae’n fan cychwyn i hwylio dyfroedd sy’n cynnwys Bae Ceredigion, Ynys Môn ac arfordir Dwyrain Iwerddon a’r adnoddau gyda’r gorau yn y byd. Eisoes cynhaliwyd cystadlaethau hwylio llwyddiannus cenedlaethol a rhyngwladol gan godi proffil yr ardal fel cyrchfan chwaraeon a hamdden a chynnig cyfleoedd busnes a gwaith i’r ardal. Cam naturiol ymlaen, felly, oedd datblygu Canolfan Hyfforddiant Hwylio o’r safon uchaf yn y dref yn cynnig yr adnoddau diweddaraf ar gyfer morwyr ar bob lefel ynghyd â chyfleoedd economaidd i’r dref a’r cylch.

Ariannwyd cynllun Academi Hwylio Plas Heli gan Gronfa Datblygu Rhanbarthol Ewrop (ERDF) drwy Swyddfa Cyllid Ewropeaidd Cymru (WEFO) ynghyd ag arian cyfatebol gan Lywodraeth Cymru a Chyngor Gwynedd. Ymhlith y meini prawf allweddol a osodwyd ar gyfer y prosiect oedd yr angen i adeilad yr Academi Hwylio fod yn strwythur eiconig a chyraedd safon BREEAM Rhagorol. Cyflawnwyd hyn oll, a llawer mwy.

Dewch i Blas Heli – Yr Academi Hwylio Genedlaethol a Chanolfan Ddigwyddiadau - ym Mhwllheli ar 8 Rhagfyr 2015 i glywed llawer mwy oddi wrth YGC, Wynne Construction, Jones Bros, Cyngor Gwynedd, Plas Heli ac Penseiri Ellis Williams am lwyddiant y cynllun.

Sut i archebu lle: Mae'r digwyddiad hwn yn rhad ac am ddim, ond rhaid i chi gofrestru o flaen llaw. Gyrrwch ebost at CEWales Digwyddiadau gan nodi eich manylion cyswllt yn llawn ac enwi pawb sy’n dymuno mynychu. Gallwch newid eich cynrychiolydd ar unrhyw adeg.

Bydd diffyg presenoldeb gan unrhyw cynrychiolydd cofrestredig yn gorfod talu yn llawn oni bai eich bod wedi rhoi gwybod inni cyn y digwyddiad.

Er mwyn lleihau gwastraff yn ein digwyddiadau, mae CEW yn gweithredu polisi o gadarnhau manylion y lleoliad ar ôl cofrestru’n unig. Bydd hyn yn sicrhau mai dim ond ar gyfer y rhai sydd wedi cofrestru y byddwn yn darparu ac nad ydym yn gor-archebu ar gyfer unigolion a allasai ddod heb archebu lle, neu rai nad ydynt yn.
