The agenda includes a welcome from Richard Wilson, Deputy Director, Commercial & PPM Division Welsh Government with key note addresses from Jane Hutt AM, Minister for Finance, Peter Chamley Director/Chair, Global Infrastructure Practice, Arup, Miranda Reeves, Account Director, Heathrow Airport Limited, Atkins, Mike McNicholas Managing Director, Design & Engineering, Atkins and Simon Lander, Partner, Chandler KBS. Ed Evans, Constructing Excellence in Wales will also manage facilitated discussions based on conversation topics.

The ability to deliver world class infrastructure projects on time and on budget is an essential requirement for any nation operating on the world stage. The speakers will highlight the importance of a clear vision, the need for high quality project management skills and the positive outcomes that will result from good project management and discuss the implications of poor project management. They will also share their experiences from major projects from across the world including.

Miranda Reeves
Account Director, Heathrow Airport Limited, Atkins Miranda has over 20 years of experience managing technology enabled programmes and projects within regulated industry and the public sector, and is an MSP and PRINCE2 Practitioner. Miranda leads an Atkins team of around 80 FTEs providing ICS in Construction project services and an ICS Minor Works service to Heathrow Airport Limited (formerly BAA/Ferrovial). After spending the first 6 months as Atkins’ ICS in Construction Portfolio Manager at Heathrow, responsible for approximately 30 airport projects both landside and airside, Miranda became Atkins’ Account Director for the entire portfolio of Atkins’ work across the account.

Mike McNicholas
Managing Director, Design & Engineering, Atkins Mike is currently the Director in charge of Atkins Design & Engineering business responsible for the delivery of Major Projects. He has many years of experience in the field of Civil Engineering, and has worked on a great variety of projects, including some major projects for prestigious clients, including Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) and London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Mike is project director for Atkins’ London 2012 work and is also closely linked to Atkins’ on-going involvement with rail projects in London and airports in the south east. Mike has also been spending a lot of time focussing on Jeddah Airport and other exciting opportunities in the Middle East region.

Peter Chamley
Leads Arup’s Infrastructure work in the UK, Middle East and Africa and is Chair of the firm’s Global Infrastructure Practice. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 35 years’ experience in Infrastructure and major civil engineering projects worldwide. He has worked on projects in UK, Europe, Australasia, East Asia and the USA. Most recently, based in London, Peter has been leading the design of over 40km of TBM bored tunnels below the capital city for the Crossrail project. Other recent projects have included Chief Engineer for the design of the Second Avenue Subway in New York, USA, and leading the contractor’s design activities for the No. 7 Line Extension, also in New York.

Simon Lander
Simon joined ChandlerKBS in 1998, becoming a Partner in 2000.With the added benefit of considerable experience in a contracting organisation Simon is an accomplished construction professional with extensive project management and procurement experience. Simon has undertaken both civil engineering and multi-discipline building projects in public and private sectors including PFI schemes and has extensive partnering experience and considerable knowledge of the NEC Suite of Contracts

In order to reduce wastage at our events CEW operates a policy of only notifying venue details when issuing registration confirmation. Mike yw’r cyfarwyddwr presennol gyda chyfrifoldeb dros y busnes Cynllunio a Pheirianneg a chanddo ef mae’r cyfrifoldeb dros gyflawni Prosiectau Mawr. Mae ganddo flynyddoedd o brofiad yn y maes Peiranneg Sifil, ac mae wedi gweithio ar ystod eang o brosiectau, yn cynnwys rhai prosiectau sylweddol gan gleientau o safon, yn cynnwys yr Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) a Phwyllgor Trefnu Llundain ar gyfer y Gemau Olympaidd a Phara Olympaidd. Mae Mike yn gyfarwyddwr prosiect ar gyfer gwaith Llundain 2012 Atkins ac mae ganddo hefyd gysylltiadau agos gydag ymrwymiadau parhaus Atkins i gynlluniau rheilffordd Llundain a meysydd awyr yn y de ddwyrain. Mae Mike hefyd wedi bod yn treulio llawer o amser yn canolbwyntio ar faes awyr Jedah a chyfleoedd cyffroes eraill yn y Dwyrain Canol.

Peter Chamley
Mae Peter yn arwain gwaith Seilwaith Arup yn y Deyrnas Unedig, y Dwyrain Canol a’r Affrig, ac yn
Gadeirydd Cangen Seilwaith Rhyngwladol y cwmni. Mae’n Beiriannydd Sifil Siartredig
a chanddo dros 35 blynedd o brofiad yn y maes Seilwaith, ac mae’n ymwneud â chynlluniau peirianneg sifil mawr yn fyd eang. Mae wedi gweithio ar brosiectau’n y Deyrnas Unedig, Ewrop, Awstralasia, Dwyrain Asia a’r Unol Daleithiau.

Yn fwyaf diweddar, gan weithio o Lundain, bu Peter yn arwain y cynllun ar gyfer dros 40km o dwnelau turio TBM o dan y brif ddinas ar gyfer y cynllun Crossrail.
Ymhlith y cynlluniau eraill y bu’n rhan ohonynt bu’n Brif Beiriannydd ar gyfer cynllunio isffordd Second Avenue Efrog Newydd, yn yr UDA, ac arweiniodd y gweithgareddau cynllunio i gontractwyr  ar gyfer Estyniad Lein Rhif 7, eto’n Efrog Newydd.

Simon Lander
Ymunodd Simon gyda ChandlerKBS yn 1998, gan ddod yn bartner yn 2000. Mae ganddo fantais ychwanegol o fod yn meddu ar brofiad helaeth yn y maes trefnu cytundebau, ac mae Simon yn weithiwr proffesiynol medrus yn y maes adeiladu, a chanddo brofiad helaeth o reoli prosiectau a chaffael.  Ymgymerodd Simon a phrosiectau  peirianyddol ac aml-ddisgyblaeth yn y sector breifat a’r sector gyhoeddus gan gynnwys cynlluniau PFI, ac mae ganddo brofiad sylweddol o bartneru yn ogystal ag ymwybyddiaeth  eang o’r casgliad o Gytundebau NEC.
