Welcome to our Weekly E-Bulletin

Summer is here; albeit a slightly colder one than we all want. It is a time for mixed news. Construction work is booming in London and the southeast of England, but levelling off slightly elsewhere around the UK generally. Architects and designers report strong pipelines of work, but some builders still face difficult financial operating conditions. Times are not as easy as we want, but on the whole our industry is doing well and there are definite signs of optimism as we move towards the traditional lull over the holidays.

But, it is not the time to sit back and relax – not totally anyway.

Last week we commented that despite changes in UK Government policies that will have an impact across the whole of the UK construction sector now was the time, more than ever, to showcase best practice. We need to work together. A united industry can create a positive and constructive dialogue that shapes policy.

We need to take a leaf out of the book of the G4C and work harder at influencing Government policy. We also need to show off more and be proud of the great work we do. So, please, become involved with what G4C is doing and seek out the best projects you are involved with and see if we can shout about them – and if they fit the brief for the BBC’s The One Show, then so much the better.

Have a great summer.
