Once again, Wales is pointing the way forward for the rest of the UK in regard to construction best practice. The backing for PAS402:2013 from the UK Contractors Group is a great boost to the work of many campaigners for improving waste management in Wales and not just our CEW team. But it serves also as a reminder that we cannot take anything for granted. Adoption of PAS402:2013 has never been mandatory in Wales and requires the support of contractors and their clients if waste management organisations are going to pursue accreditation. Once again it reinforces the argument for not just a collaborative, united approach to delivering construction but also a holistic view of the entire process. That is what we are seeing right now as the judging process of the CEW Awards gets under way this week. The best of the best schemes, contractors and clients are those that recognise that value, sustainability, investment in people and the future of our industry is rooted in an approach that encompasses waste, low carbon and community benefits and focuses on outcomes and not cost. This is why you should be booking your seats at the awards right now so you hear and see firsthand about how the best construction projects in Wales are managed and delivered. Details of the awards and the rest of CEW’s work is promoted via our newsletter, regular columns in the Daily Post (starting next week) and the Western Mail as well as our Twitter feed and Linked In. If you use social media look at for posts from @CEWales and use the hashtag #cewawards2015 and remember #construction and #wales so make sure you’re noticed and gain retweets, but that everyone else in Wales and construction realises that Wales is leading the way in construction best practice.
