Event Summary
The UK Government has announced, through the Queen’s Speech, that the Zero Carbon standard will be implemented from 2016 using an Allowable Solutions scheme.
The Zero Carbon Hub, in partnership with Westminster City Council, will be hosting an event on 8th July in London where the UK Government will offer clarity on a range of topics relating to the delivery of Zero Carbon homes. These topics will include:
Allowable Solutions
All developments will be required to meet a set minimum energy performance standard through Building Regulations. To achieve the Zero Carbon definition developers can choose to use an Allowable Solutions scheme if mitigating all carbon emissions on site, once the minimum energy performance is achieved, is neither technically feasible nor cost effective.
This conference will offer further information to delegates on Allowable Solutions and the exemption of "small developments" in England.
Performance Gap
The morning session of the conference will focus on exclusively revealing the much anticipated results from the energy Performance Gap project. Stephen Williams, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government (CLG), will deliver the key note speech announcing the Government policies which will close the Performance Gap from 2020.
Housing Standards review
The Zero Carbon Hub has confirmed a speaker from Government to discuss the Housing Standards review and the implications this has on planners when working with house builders on new developments.
