CCCW: What’s the Climate for Construction?

Climate change affects all of us and the construction industry, from designers to site managers, need to understand how to address weather patterns, rainfall and adapt our methods to cope.

The Climate Change Commission for Wales and the Sustainable Development Charter is backing an event that allows professionals in all aspects of the Welsh built environment to discuss, learn and consider the impact of climate change on construction. Specifically, the event looks at Climate Change: Risk, Adaptation & Opportunities.

This free event is taking place on Wednesday 21st October in Newport full details in the link below is mainly aimed at signatories of the SD Charter, but is also open to other organisations across Welsh construction to attend.  It will be relevant to those new to action on climate change, as well as people who've been working on it for a while.  It will be an opportunity to showcase good practice as well as providing help to those who wish to do more.

At the event you will learn what organisations have done so far to take action on climate change mitigation, adaptation and supporting the transition to a low carbon future, through working with employees, customers, suppliers and stakeholders.  Confirmed contributors include NRW and Tata Steel.

During the afternoon sessions there will be an opportunity to learn and discuss further opportunities to take action on climate change; and we will be setting a challenge to signatories to outline future commitment which can be highlighted as part of Wales' contribution to the global climate change talks in Paris (COP21) at the end of the year.
