Infrastructure Intelligence: Hancock Tells Industry: Stop Talking, Get on With the Job
What Is the CCG?

Welcome to our Weekly E-Bulletin

We think sometimes we have it tough in construction. So, we tend to take some solace in being able to join with friends, colleagues and partners at breakfast briefings and as we share best practice we also share our anxieties.

Back in the summer we were worried about the UK Government’s perceived about-face on many construction policies. At the time, CEW preached that we should all take our time and not leap to conclusions. Then last week, at the CIC Construction Summit, David Hancock, Cabinet Office head of construction effectively told the industry to pull its finger out. His message was: stop debating and start delivering efficiencies. As the event main speaker he explained the new government’s aims and what industry should expect from the next five years – if you only read one thing in this newsletter, then read his interview. It is recommended and worth sharing with colleagues and discussing when networking together. Because, whilst he is right he is also wrong and here is still much to improve upon. And the only way to do that is to pursue the dialogue Government wants to focus on collaboration and the target of delivering long term value.
