Welcome to our E-Bulletin

There are mixed messages coming through from the media, pundits and from site about how well construction is coping right now across the UK – not just Wales. Official data might indicate that performance is low, or flat, but the anecdotal feel moment by moment seems to point to something else.

The news about Hinkley Point is a great example. Putting aside any reservations about the funding or the technology the project is good for the UK construction industry, particularly the southwest and it will benefit Wales too. But for how long? Will there be an impact on availability of skilled labour and project teams that might affect welsh infrastructure projects in the longer run?

The answers are that we do not know for sure.

The method of coping is to stick at what we are good at – which is being one of the best regions at construction in the UK and working alongside government and industry colleagues to keep being as good as we are right now. That means a continued focus on best practice. It means looking at the bigger picture.

It means, above all, being positive.

Let’s do this.
