The Minister for Natural Resources and Food, Alun Davies AM will officially launch Enabling Zero Waste, a Constructing Excellence in Wales - Construction, Demolition and Waste project.

 What is the project?

Enabling Zero Waste is a Constructing Excellence in Wales (CEW) initiative designed to provide practical, positive and active intervention through the provision of professional waste management solutions targeted at a small number of Construction and Demolition projects in Wales.

CEW will work in collaboration with construction sites to offer practical intervention to the construction project and site teams to explore viable solutions of achieving zero waste.  We are working with four live construction sites:

  • Ice Arena Wales, Cardiff Bay (Kier Construction);
  • Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea (John Weaver Contractors Ltd);
  • Millbank Primary School, Ely, Cardiff (WRW Construction Ltd) and
  • Care Home, Newport (Castleoak Care Partnerships Ltd)

At the event, representatives from the organisations will describe their distinctive projects and offer an insight into how they plan to address the challenge of achieving zero waste to landfill throughout and how this will affect day to day practical and commercial operations.

The event will provide vital information and intelligence for those in the construction industry and this first in a series of events will disseminate achievements, challenges, obstacles and solutions and provide learning opportunities developing understanding of the feasibility of the Welsh Government Zero Waste target.

Project aims

The fundamental objectives of the Enabling Zero Waste project are to offer an active intervention at site providing mentoring and practical operational assistance to enable a reduction in site waste and to produce learning resources which demonstrate the viability of zero waste to landfill.

Specific outputs include:

  • A roadmap and worked examples that demonstrate if and how zero waste is achievable in the current context (2014) given parameters of practical and economic viability
  • BIM modelling and outputs
  • Site Waste Management Plans and input into BRE SMARTWaste learning
  • An ongoing, up to date and engaging communications campaign
  • A collection of testimony/ case studies/ evidence base of projects and examples
  • Educational tools/ resources for others to gain knowledge and behaviour change

Dyddiad: Dydd Mawrth 24 Mehefin 2014
Lleoliad: Caerdydd
Amser: 8am cofrestru; 8.30 dechrau
Cost: Am ddim

Bydd Gweinidog Cyfoeth Naturiol a Bwyd Llywodraeth Cymru, Alun Davies AC, yn lansio’n swyddogol y prosiect Galluogi Dyfodol Diwastraff, sef prosiect Adeiladu, Dymchwel a Gwastraff o eiddo Adeiladu Arbenigrwydd yng Nghymru (CEW).

Beth yw natur y prosiect?

Cyflwynwyd y prosiect i gynnig cymorth ymarferol, positif a rhagweithiol ar ffurf atebion rheoli gwastraff proffesiynol a dargedwyd tuag at nifer fach o brosiectau Adeiladu a Dymchwel yng Nghymru.

Bydd CEW yn cydweithio â safleoedd adeiladu drwy gynnig mesurau ymarferol i brosiectau adeiladu a thimoedd safle er mwyn canfod atebion a fydd yn golygu dyfodol diwastraff. Rydym yn gweithio gyda phedwar safle adeiladu, sef:

  • Canolfan Ia Cymru, Bae Caerdydd (Kier Construction);
  • Oriel Gelf Glynn Vivian, Abertawe (John Weaver Contractors Ltd);
  • Ysgol Gynradd, Trelái, Caerdydd (WRW Construction Ltd) and
  • Cartref Gofal, Casnewydd (Castleoak Care Partnerships Ltd)

Yn y lansiad swyddogol bydd cynrychiolwyr o’r sefydliadau hyn yn disgrifio eu cynlluniau ac yn dangos eu hymateb i’r her o gyflawni dyfodol lle na chaiff unrhyw wastraff ei anfon i’w gladdu mewn safle tirlenwi. Byddant yn trafod yr oblygiadau i’w gwaith dyddiol a gweithgareddau masnachol.

Cyflwynir gwybodaeth allweddol i gynyddu dealltwriaeth y rhai sy’n gweithio o fewn y diwydiant adeiladu. Dyma’r cyntaf mewn cyfres o ddigwyddiadau i ledaenu’r neges am lwyddiannau, heriau, rhwystrau ac atebion. Mae’n gyfle i ddeall yn well oblygiadau ymarferol y targed Dim Gwastraff a osodwyd gan Lywodraeth Cymru.

Nodau’r prosiect

Un o nodau sylfaenol y prosiect Galluogi Dyfodol Diwastraff yw helpu drwy fod yn bresennol ar y safle adeiladu ei hun gan fentora a chynnig cymorth ymarferol i leihau gwastraff. Nod arall yw creu adnoddau dysgu ar gyfer galluogi dyfodol diwastraff.

Mae’r deilliannau penodol yn cynnwys:

  • “Map” gweithredu ac enghreifftiau manwl o sut i ddilyn llwybr “dim gwastraff” yn y cyd-destun presennol (2014), heb anghofio’r ystyriaethau ymarferol a’r angen i fod yn economaidd hyfyw
  • Modelu Gwybodaeth Adeiladu (BIM) a’r deilliannau
  • Cynlluniau Rheoli Gwastraff ar Safleoedd Adeiladu a bwydo gwybodaeth i’r system adrodd BRE SMARTWaste
  • Cyfathrebu ac ymgysylltu’n barhaus a chyfredol
  • Casgliad o dystiolaeth / astudiaethau achos / prosiectau ac enghreifftiau seiliedig ar dystiolaeth
  • Adnoddau dysgu i helpu eraill i gynyddu eu gwybodaeth a newid eu hymddygiad
