How do integrated construction teams add value right from the start of a project? This is your opportunity to hear how the Welsh Government’s Transport Division and their partners have delivered a major civil engineering project within time and budget through an environmentally sensitive site and with the support of the local community.
The A477 St. Clears to Red Roses Improvement was completed in 2014, under an ECI form of procurement and has been operational for over 18 months. The integrated team successfully brought the Project through the Statutory Process, detailed design and construction stages. The success of the project is demonstrated by the way the team has dealt with;
- Buildability and Logistics
- Sustainability
- Community Engagement
- Time and Cost Certainty.
This success has been highlighted through a series of awards including Constructing Excellence in Wales’ Integration and Collaboration in 2014.
This morning event is your opportunity to hear from:
- The Welsh Government client on their reasons for adopting this particular procurement strategy and the benefits they expect to realise from early contractor involvement
- The delivery team on how they approached the project and in particular the way they engaged with the local community and other stakeholders to ensure a successful outcome.
This project was put forward as part of the Constructing Excellence in Wales Exemplar Programme so that others can learn from the actions taken by the team to deliver economic, social and environmental benefits. Copies of the pre-construction case study and the construction and occupation case study will be available on the day and will be accessible following the event.
Who should attend?
- Clients and procurers of highway projects– to learn how to build a strong and integrated team from an early stage to deliver greater value and to consider the positive impact of early contractor involvement on the whole life costs of an asset.
- Contractors and Consultants – to better understand how their culture and behaviour can positively support clients and procurers in developing successful projects.
