Wales, like the rest of the UK needs the right infrastructure to support its growth, its people and its environment as well as its economy. But what kind of Wales do we want and how will it be built?
Wales and the rest of the UK are being challenged by the Conservative Government to build itself out of recession. Policies backing the construction of more homes, ideas to set up focussed initiatives to deliver critical infrastructure projects are all now on the political agenda after the speeches at last week’s conference. Things look good. There is a platform from which we as an industry – that’s developers, builders, local authorities, and everyone that is a stakeholder in the built environment – can build a better Wales. But that is just why right now, CEW is making the case for a renewed emphasis on best value and collaborative working in construction – and it starts at the concept stage and procurement.
Exactly what kind of Wales do we want to build and what kind of infrastructure will our construction industry be asked to deliver?
If we can answer these questions early then it gives us a chance to plan. Get that right and the delivery of a project will go well and the end users – school children, hospital patients, car drivers or train passengers – will reap the benefits. And that’s why CEW is working with Welsh Government in support of the Infrastructure, Investment & Delivery event in Cardiff on 4th November.
Getting Welsh infrastructure right will boost the nation’s economic growth and create an opportunity for our industry to deliver landmark world class engineering and construction schemes. The CEW Welsh Infrastructure conference on 4th November will address the importance of long term planning. Wales must get this right and to do so, we need your involvement. Speakers will cover the Vision for Wales, its importance in delivering a long term plan, the wider social benefits from major projects, budgeting, environment and taking a holistic view of what’s right for Wales and how construction can provide the answers. If your organisation has any interest in the future of Welsh infrastructure then book your place now – you cannot afford to miss this debate. Call the CEW team on 02920 493322 to reserve your seat.
