CEW AWARDS 2014

Welcome to our weekly e-bulletin

With only a week to go to the vote on Scottish independence it is easy to become distracted away from what makes Welsh construction such a great example of Welsh industry and commitment to doing things right. So we wanted to remind fellow professionals that Wales is consistently the best construction sector in the UK in terms of collaborative working and best practice. Based on the performance at the national CEW awards and feedback we gain from around the country – we are setting the benchmark for UK construction.

Today we have promoted the lessons learned at Coleg Cymunedol Y Dderwen and in a few weeks we will be facilitating more sharing of best practice at our BIM4Civils events. These are just two examples of what makes our country’s construction industry great.

But the goal for us has to be to maintain the standards we have set and if at all possible to improve upon them. BIM is a great tool that we should embrace. Coleg Cymunedol Y Dderwen demonstrates what can be done with teams uniting and planning together. What we need to do now is to ensure we continue to share these lessons and shout loudly about the best practice required to help us reach targets on waste and low carbon – particularly at a site level.
