Happy New Year from CEW. No matter what happens in 2017 it is unlikely to be as surprising as last year, but whatever happens it is going to be busy for all of us working within construction. What’s more, it is worth reminding ourselves that Wales is doing better as a regional economy within the UK than we might think. Depending on the economic measure you use, Wales is growing. But, no matter how you view our economic situation construction remains key to the long-term success of the country. 

That is why we are not resting and will continue to educate, inform and influence people making decisions about Welsh built environment that a collaborative, best practice approach is the route to delivering real value for Wales and Welsh people. That means continuing to champion the infrastructure projects we need but arguing for the right design, planning and delivery methods to be applied. It is why CEW will continue to champion the Exemplar programme and it is why we will make no secret of our support for the work done by the Future Generations Commission and the urgent need to align construction with a whole life approach to decision making. 

What you all do makes a huge difference to the quality of life across Wales – that’s why we need to make sure it is done right and then celebrate the outcomes.
