BEST: Can we Build the Right Homes?
National Women in Engineering Day: More Women Needed

Welcome to our Weekly E-Bulletin

June has been a whirlwind for all parts of our Welsh construction supply chain – and so far, it has been a wind blowing decent fortune, if not good across the sector. Fast on the heels of the Westminster General election that saw an immediate boost in optimism amongst investors, we had our own highly successful CEW Awards and this week we see the National Women in Engineering Day and the Chartered Institute of Housing conference and exhibition in Manchester.

All of these events serve to highlight how diverse our sector is and the reach and impact our industry can have upon the lives of people all over the country. We have been promoting discussions about the nature of Welsh homes to be built by our SMEs; we’ve seen an increase in social housing announced by Government – but what role will our sector have in improving the lives of Welsh social housing tenants?

We often talk about the landmark schemes that steal the headlines – but behind the stories in the media, the nitty gritty work of Welsh builders is often all about real people. Homes are crucial to the Welsh economy. They need to be built right, maintained properly and be warm but also energy efficient. Hence why we actively promote Passivhaus and support the sessions run by BEST.
