Welcome to our Weekly E-bulletin

Last week we talked about the positive signs of growth in the Welsh economy and specifically in construction. I remain stubbornly optimistic and even more so now we have seen the support of the CBI for plans for a relief road for the M4. The CBI Wales chair went so far as to say that “an efficient relief road for the M4 is vital for future investment in Wales and must go hand in hand with a Metro system.

For construction this is great news. The detailed implications of the relief road still need debating, but the real good news about the CBI support is the recognition that Wales simply must think big about its infrastructure. What’s more it must recognise that our construction industry has the answers.

Indeed, it makes sense for business leaders and politicians to consult direct with the Welsh construction sector more often. Of course, part of the CEW role is to facilitate more consultation and to influence policy and decision making as far as possible. That is also why we are urging you to respond to Carl Sargeant’s request for feedback on the Government energy efficiency strategy.

So, don’t be shy – please tell us what you think.
