Welcome to our Weekly E-Bulletin

With UK Construction Week just around the corner in early October it is worth remembering not just what a fantastic career our industry can provide to all sorts of people from different parts of our society, but also focussing on the impact it makes on our children as a whole.

We often comment in the CEW newsletter about the landmark schemes creating outstanding educational environments in our primary and secondary schools. But we do not always talk about the involvement of our children; their reaction to the construction process or the lessons they might learn about business, management, waste and sustainability whilst their school is being built or refurbished.

The Exemplars talked about in this week’s newsletter and in the one from last week are great examples of how to build landmark schools in tough procurement conditions. But also, the Recipro Wales story illustrates the benefits of a scheme and the involvement of our children.

Construction is society’s great enabler. Let’s spend a bit of time focussing in the next week or so about what it can do for our children and let’s show from the roof tops about what a great industry it is and what superb career and employment opportunities it can provide.
