Enabling Zero Waste

The Construction and Demolition Waste Programme at Constructing Excellence in Wales (CEW) is launching a new project to investigate the viability of achieving zero waste in construction. Enabling Zero Waste will provide practical, positive and active intervention of professional waste management solutions targeted at a small number of Construction and Demolition projects in Wales.

CEW will allocate a dedicated waste management resource, at no cost to the client, connecting external expert knowledge and problem solving of waste management issues. It is anticipated that the combination of this skill set together with practical intervention should record close-to zero waste to landfill statistics.

To deliver this pilot project, a Chartered Waste Manager will be recruited to offer on-site assistance working with clients to mentor and monitor construction sites from conception to completion demonstrating the viability of achieving zero waste.

We are looking for suitable participating schemes and we hope to have all participants recruited before the end of the financial year. Do you have a construction site that is currently at the design stage and is expected to be completed by late summer 2015. We are interested in all aspects construction, including refurbishment, demolition and new build from private, public and commercial clients.
