Coastal Housing Group - Meet the Client Event

Title:
Coastal Housing Group - Meet the Client Event
Date: Monday 30th November 2015
Location: Swansea (venue confirmed on registration)
Time: 8am – 10am
Cost: Free

Coastal Housing Group is a not-for-profit Housing Association operating in Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Carmarthenshire and Bridgend. We have over 5000 properties for rent and for sale and are experts in supporting older people, those who require adapted homes and people who need help managing their tenancy.  Coastal is committed to providing excellent housing and related services to the people we house by seeking to sustain tenancies and communities, sustaining the local economy with the work we do, and sustaining Coastal as a viable organisation.

Coastal are exploring new and innovative ways of engaging with contractors as they seek to make themselves a more attractive client in the marketplace, a client with whom suppliers want to work. Their intention is to start this process of engagement with a breakfast event at Coastal’s Swansea HQ at 220 High Street (the Urban Village), SA1 1NW. This event is specifically focused on contractors and is unlikely to add value to consultants. A consultant focused event will follow at a later date and details will be made available separately.

This is an opportunity for you to better understand the client’s future workload in the context of wider work programmes across the Swansea Bay region and beyond.  It is also an opportunity for you to share the client’s tendering philosophy and help to shape the way it does business. This may involve adopting different procurement strategies for different types and values of work as well as different forms of contract. Participants in this event will be expected to actively engage in the morning’s discussions as we jointly seek a better way of doing business.

In terms of anticipated outcomes from the event these include:

  • A demonstration that Coastal are trying to understand the contractor’s position and needs, especially at tender stage.
  • A recognition that one size doesn’t fit all, and that there needs to be a healthier discussion about risk allocation much earlier in the process, both pre-tender, mid-tender, and post-tender.
  • An explanation of Coastal’s anticipated future workload.
  • An understanding by suppliers of the client’s expectations e.g. the impact on customers/residents from defects, reasons for fixed price scenarios, honesty around handover dates, etc.

Further information will be available closer to the event. However, this is the first opportunity to raise awareness of this event and to gauge the level of interest within the market, both local and further afield, to share in and support the client’s vision for a better way of delivering its construction needs.

How to Book: If you would like to join Coastal Housing Group in helping them to shape the way they engage with suppliers please book your place at this event by emailing CEWales Events  stating your full contact details and the names of all delegates wishing to attend

Non-attendance by any registered delegate will be charged £30 plus VAT unless you have informed us prior to the event.

In order to reduce wastage at our events CEW operates a policy of only notifying venue details when issuing registration confirmation. This ensures we only cater for delegates who have registered and don’t over order for individuals who may or may not turn up on the day.
