This presentation will use the Menai Bridge as a backdrop to illustrate how today’s engineers can use innovation to further their own careers while enhancing the performance of their employers and fulfilling the needs of clients and society. The presentation will feature Andy’s normal lively style and will be illustrated with real adrenaline filled examples where problems were solved and money was made.

Andy was elected a Fellow of the ICE at the unusually young age of 36. He was instrumental in the introduction of Industrial Rope Access for structural maintenance. He established Up and Under in 1987 which has grown to be a multi award winning group of companies providing a wide range of services in relation to asset management of the built environment.

Outside of work you will find Andy close to the edge; jumping out of planes, climbing mountains or charging across deserts. In 2012 he carried the Olympic Torch through his home town in recognition of the various charitable activities of the Up and Under Group.
