Is your organisation signed up to the Infrastructure Carbon Review?

The Infrastructure Carbon Review sets out a series of actions for government, clients and suppliers to reduce carbon from the construction and operation of the UK’s infrastructure assets, in line with the UK’s climate change commitments. The recommendations have the potential to reduce up to 24 million tonnes of carbon and save the UK £1.46 billion a year by 2050.

TheInfrastructure Carbon Review One-Year-On Conference, held earlier this week, was hosted by the Green Construction Board, together with the Department for Business Innovation & Skills and saw  Thames Tideway Tunnel, Lafarge Tarmac, Temple Group, Kier Infrastructure and Barhale Trant Utilities sign up.

RICS - '50 Shades of Green' Energy Performance Uncovered'

Energy performance of buildings uncovered. What’s it really all about? How green does a building have to be to be “green”? What shade of green does a building really need to be? What does “green” mean to you and your clients?

We take the lid off the legislation, regulation, measurement and upgrading of buildings by setting it in a “real world” context. This is a “tell it like it is” session with ample opportunity to raise those challenging questions you’ve been storing up but didn’t know who to ask.

Learning outcome:

A more confident understanding of the drivers, incentives, methodologies and the pros and cons of energy consumption versus carbon emissions.

Urban Scale
This course provides a basic understanding of early design stage energy assessment tools and their potential in both existing and new developments. One such tool, which is the focus of this course, the Virvil SketchUp plugin provides the opportunity to utilise a dynamic simulation tool (HTB2) through a new, user friendly and free SketchUp interface. It enables an early stage energy assessment of designs at both building and urban scale.
