Ysgol Gymraeg Nant Talwg – A model school?
The Vale of Glamorgan Council faces, like many other LEAs, challenges to deliver new schools fit for the 21st century against a backdrop of ever diminishing capital and revenue budgets.
Ysgol Gymraeg Nant Talwg represents the development of a cost-effective primary school for 210 pupils and a nursery based on a template design derived from previous projects and refined over a number of years. The “Agilis” model school, jointly developed by the contractor and architect, features an efficiency of design, a lean building process, speedy construction and cost effectiveness compared to a more traditional bespoke option. It offers flexibility through removable internal walls and the ability for the client to customise the external appearance as well as the internal positioning of certain elements such as toilet blocks.
This event will set out the process from preconstruction through construction and on to occupation. It demonstrates the value of maintaining an integrated team throughout the delivery of a number of projects to continually refine and improve the final product. Reference will also be made to other associated projects at Ysgol Dewi Saint Primary school and Oakfield Primary school, to demonstrate the value of continuity between projects and the potential for further improvements against an established model.
Given the ongoing financial challenges facing the public sector this is a “must attend” event for anyone involved in delivering new schools across Wales.

Mae Cyngor Bro Morgannwg, fel llawer o awdurdodau addysg eraill, yn ceisio darparu ysgolion newydd addas ar gyfer y 21ain ganrif mewn hinsawdd lle mae cyllidebau cyfalaf a refeniw yn crebachu’n barhaus.
Mae Ysgol Gymraeg Nant Talwg yn enghraifft o ysgol gynradd cost effeithiol ar gyfer 210 o ddisgyblion, a meithrinfa, wedi ei seilio ar dempled a ddatblygwyd ar gyfer prosiectau cynharach – templed a gafodd ei fireinio wedyn dros nifer o flynyddoedd. Datblygwyd y model “Agilis” ar y cyd gan y contractwr a’r pensaer. Roedd yn cynnwys dyluniad effeithlon, proses adeiladu diwastraff, disgwyliad adeiladu cyflym a chost effeithlonrwydd o gymharu â’r hen drefn fwy traddodiadol o godi adeilad pwrpasol. Mae’r dyluniad yn hyblyg iawn – er enghraifft gellir symud y waliau mewnol, addasu’r diwyg allanol ac ail-leoli rhai pethau mewnol, fel y blociau toiled.
Yn y cyfarfod dangosir y broses a ddilynwyd - o’r paratoadau cyn adeiladu, trwy’r cyfnod adeiladu hyd at y cyfnod meddiannu. Nodir manteision cadw tîm integredig dros nifer o brosiectau er mwyn mireinio a gwella’r cynnyrch terfynol yn barhaus. Cyfeirir at brosiectau eraill cysylltiedig yn Ysgol Gynradd Dewi Sant ac Ysgol Gynradd Oakfield. Maen nhw hefyd yn amlygu gwerth dilyniant o’r naill brosiect i’r llall a’r potensial bob amser i wella model a ddefnyddiwyd o’r blaen.
O gofio heriau ariannol diddiwedd y sector cyhoeddus, ‘allwch chi ddim fforddio peidio dod i’r digwyddiad hwn os yw eich gwaith yn ymwneud â darparu ysgol newydd yn unrhyw le yng Nghymru.

Bydd hyn yn sicrhau mai dim ond ar gyfer y rhai sydd wedi cofrestru y byddwn yn darparu ac nad ydym yn gor-archebu ar gyfer unigolion a allasai ddod heb archebu lle, neu rai nad ydynt yn.
