Business Wales Meet the Buyer: Morgan Sindall Ltd – Raglan VC Primary School Development

Welcome to our Weekly E-Bulletin

Latham and Egan are almost generic terms amongst the organisations and individuals at the heart of the construction change agenda. Indeed, if you have been involved in the movement to improve construction processes as long as many of us at CEW, then there is a danger that ‘Latham’ is over used. But that is to do an injustice to what was a ground breaking report that set the tone for urgent reform of how the construction industry operated right across the UK and an even worse disservice to its author, Sir Michael Latham.

So, we make no apology for applauding the CITB in naming Sir Michael as the recipient of its Lifetime Achievement Award. He is a worthy winner and you can read more about why in our story below. Do take a look at the video and take time to Google ‘Constructing the Team’ to find out where the change agenda we are so proud of began. You might be surprised that its themes remain at the heart of everything that we do as a movement for change in Welsh construction.

What’s more our work is not at an end – as a movement we must continue to educate, inform, encourage and cajole the decision makers and policy influencers. We must work together to make a water tight argument for collaborative procurement in Welsh construction – especially within the public sector. This is why we are keeping a watchful eye on the shape of the new Welsh Government. Construction cuts across numerous Government departments; our work affects lots of policy decisions and the lives of many Welsh people. We must be very focussed over the next 18 months to ensure that our Government knows that our industry holds the key to creating a dynamic, low carbon and sustainable Welsh economy.
