Welcome to our first newsletter of 2013. If you read the Western Mail last week or saw any of the positive news about our industry you will know that the next twelve months offer a great opportunity for Welsh construction to flourish. 

With the current raft of energy efficiency funding and forthcoming Green Deal, we need to ensure the right retrofit solutions are chosen for properties in Wales.

From the end of January the CEW waste team will be managing a series of workshops to encourage the industry to take part in the consultation process for the Draft Regulations for Site Waste Management Plans.

Jane Hutt confirmed around £90m of priority capital funding for Wales to boost Welsh construction

The Department for Environment & Sustainable Development has issued a consultation on a draft set of regulations.

Welsh Government would like to hear your views on the draft regulations. This consultation contains proposals which: 

Implement the requirements of the EU Directive 2010/31/EU on the Energy Performance of Buildings
Minor changes to facilitate the Green Deal
Amendments to Schedule 3 in relation to the self-certification (competent person) schemes.

The closing date for the consultation is Wednesday 20 February.

The term Building Information Modelling (BIM) is on the lips of most individual in the construction industry and is gaining momentum right across Wales and the rest of the UK. Our CEW BIM events have already attracted over 500 delegates, a number of which have progressed through the different modules: Learners, Intermediate and Advanced.
